“Levitations” is the result of a long research work by the artist Cocco who finds in the expression of theatrical art a tool for further development and definition, in a continuous dialogue, an intense conceptual flow between the many artistic languages ​​staged: dance, painting, music, theater.

The choreographic project by Margherita Pirotto and the music by Carlo Carcano draw inspiration from the pictorial cycle Levitations by the artist Cristina Cocco, who for the occasion will present on the stage an unpublished canvas belonging to her latest pictorial cycle, which will give life to a single, monumental installation and which will be unveiled for the first time to the public on the occasion of RAM 2011.

The choreographies of Margherita Pirotto will dialogue, in perfect symbiosis, with the signs of pure light of the great installation by Cristina Cocco, harmoniously agreeing with the music of the composer Carlo Carcano.

Levitations is the result of a long research work by the artist Cocco, who finds in the expression of theatrical art a tool for further development and definition, in a continuous dialogue, an intense conceptual flow between the many artistic languages staged: dance, painting, music, theater.

On the stage of the Altinate Center, the body and the canvas will compose the musicality of the final creative act: the signs in space, produced by the movement, will evoke those of the artist’s hand on the pictorial surface.

The search for the entire show is aimed at that magical and mysterious moment in which creation takes place, in which body and color become matter, subject to time, space and history.

The Levitations show also wants to be a journey into the unknown, which has its roots in the throbbing matter of decaying nature, regenerating itself in death and transforming itself into a sign of pure light. A lifeless body, lying in water, vaporizes in death in a luminous sign, which multiplies in the ascension, sucked into spirituality.

Matter and spirituality, in a constant transfer of roles, will give life to a harmonious dance, whose journey will end in the profound certainty of the unknown.

The extreme phase of Levitation is therefore the generation of figures of light, which travel like silver comets, sucked into the deep breath of the night sky.
